It’s official: Adrián Beltré is a Hall of Famer.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced Tuesday that Beltré was elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. Beltré earned 95.1% of the votes on 385 ballots submitted, the 19th-highest total for a player all-time and the highest for a native of the Dominican.
He is listed as the 19th third baseman to reach the Hall of Fame. It is the smallest contingent of any position in the Hall. Beltré, who spent the last eight years of his 21-season career with the Rangers, is the seventh third baseman to be elected in his first try.
He won three Gold Gloves with the Rangers, made four All-Star teams, and finished in the top 10 for the AL MVP four times. Prior to joining the Rangers for the 2011 season, he was a career .275/.329/.462/.791 hitter with one All-Star appearance and a pair of Gold Gloves. With the Rangers, from ages 32-39, he slashed .304/.357/.509/.865.

Beltré finished with 3,166 hits, 477 homers, 636 doubles, 1,707 RBIs and five Gold Gloves. He is one of only four players to have the distinction of 3,000 hits, 400 homers and five Gold Gloves.
With numbers like that, it came as no surprise that Beltré was voted in. Here’s some of the national reaction to Beltré’s Hall of Fame announcement.
