Shelley Deeks with Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) on Monday said NACI was recommending that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine not be used for adults under 55 years of age. Those 55 and older can still receive the vaccine with informed consent. She said there have still been no cases of serious blood clots reported in Canada, and this is being taken as a precautionary measure. She added that there has been no such cases reported following administration of the Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccines.
