Myles Garrett falls, T.J. Watt rises in Defensive Player of the Year Tracker after Week 11

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Myles Garrett’s pursuit of the Defensive Player of the Year award hit the pause button last week when Garrett was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Garrett has already been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.

Garrett still remains among the four frontrunners for the DPOY award. But it’s hard to gain ground on the leaders when you’re not playing.

Here’s how the rankings stack up after Week 11.

1. T.J. WATT, STEELERS, EDGE

Last week’s ranking: 2.

Week 11: Watt had four pressures (two hits, two hurries) and two tackles against the Jaguars. His PFF grade was 79.9 and he graded 80.5 against the run.

This season: Tied for second with 9.0 sacks and his 54 pressures rank third. He has 3320 tackles, an interception and six passes defensed. His PFF defensive grade is 92.1, first among edge defenders and second among all linemen. His grade against the run is 90.0, first among edge defenders.

2. AARON DONALD, RAMS, DL

Last week’s ranking: 1.

Week 11: Donald had four pressures (all hurries) and just one assisted tackle against the Buccaneers. His PFF grade was 76.4.

This season: Donald is tied for second with 9.0 sacks and leads the NFL with 60 quarterback pressures. He has 26 tackles and three forced fumbles (one recovery). His PFF grade is 92.7, first among all defensive linemen.

3. KHALIL MACK, BEARS, EDGE

Last week’s ranking: 4.

Week 11:

This season: Mack has 6.5 sacks and 41 pressures along with 36 tackles, an interception and two forced fumbles (one recovery). His PFF grade is 91.6, third among defensive linemen and second among edge defenders. His grade against the run is 88.4, second among edge rushers.

Four pressures, three tackles and one interception vs. the Vikings.

4. MYLES GARRETT, BROWNS, EDGE

Last week’s ranking: 3.

Week 11: Did not play. Garrett was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list last week and has been rule out of the Browns’ Week 12 game against the Jaguars.

This season: Garrett’s 9.5 sacks is tied for the NFL lead and he has 40 quarterback pressures (ranked 12th). He also has 31 tackles and four forced fumbles (two recoveries). His defensive grade from Pro Football Focus is 86.6, which remains fifth among edge defenders. His grade against the run is 67.5.
