Murphy: Spurs’ Patty Mills ‘among 7 or 8’ free agents Boston targeting in free agency

The Boston Celtics could be targeting a long-time veteran point guard of the San Antonio Spurs, Australian floor general Patty Mills. The Boston Herald’s Mark Murphy reports that the Canberra native is one of a list of “seven or eight” potential free agent targets on the Celtics’ wish list for the coming summer free agency period.
Given Mills’ tenure with the Spurs as a player overlapped with current head coach Ime Udoka’s first stop as an assistant there, the two may have a connection that could help check off one of those boxes of desired free agents in the Saint Mary’s product.
Mills is an unrestricted free agent with over $60 million in career earnings, so it is not out of the question that the 12 season veteran could be willing to sign on a team-friendly deal if he likes the opportunity.
Hearing that the Celtics have a list of “seven or eight” free agent targets, including Spurs point guard Patty Mills. … Discussions between team and Evan Fournier are ongoing, but not close to resolution.
