MTG attacks ‘vaping groping’ Boebert and Chip Roy after Republicans vote against her

Killing the resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) sparked Republican infighting between Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who introduced the measure last week over Tlaib’s actions and remarks related to the Israel-Hamas war.

Roy was one of 23 Republicans who voted to block the resolution against the lone Palestinian American member of Congress on Wednesday evening, calling the resolution “deeply flawed” and held “factually unverified claims,” including accusing Tlaib of leading an insurrection at the United States Capitol, describing a rally on Oct. 18 where hundreds of demonstrators called for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

Roy said the Progressive Caucus member “has repeatedly made outrageous remarks toward Israel and the Jewish people” and described her conduct as “unbecoming of a member of Congress” adding its “certainly worthy of condemnation – if not censure.”

Tlaib spoke at the demonstration two weeks ago, organized by IfNotNow and Jewish Voice, in a protest showing Jewish support of Palestine where more than 300 demonstrators were arrested by Capitol police. Demonstrations spread throughout the nation in the following weeks, demanding humanitarian efforts to help civilians in Gaza caught in the crossfire between Israel and Hamas. Greene labeled the pro-Palestine demonstration a “pro-Hamas insurrection” and said Tlaib has “repeatedly displayed her anti-Semitic beliefs, and shown her hatred for Israel.”

“However, tonight’s feckless resolution to censure Tlaib was deeply flawed and made legally and factually unverified claims, including the claim of leading an ‘insurrection,’” Roy added.

“I voted to table the resolution,” Roy said. “In January 2021, the legal term insurrection was stretched and abused by many following the events at the Capitol. We should not continue to perpetuate claims of ‘insurrection’ at the Capitol, and we should not abuse the term now.”

After the resolution failed on the House Floor, Greene took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to attack Roy for voting to expel her from the House Freedom Caucus in July. Republicans have remained largely silent on who voted to remove Greene from its ranks. Greene added Roy kept “CNN wannabe Ken Buck and vaping groping Lauren Boebert,” adding he sided “with the Democrats to protect Terrorist Tlaib.”

“You hate Trump, certified Biden’s election, and could care less about J6 defendants being persecuted,” Greene said.

In a broader attack, Greene called out her Republican colleagues on X, formerly Twitter, who voted against the measure, “Conservatives on this list hide behind excuses with their white wigs on and quote the constitution.”

Since the terror attacks by Hamas on Oct. 7, there have been a rising number of threats and hate crime incidents against Jewish communities, as well as Arab and Muslim communities; Pro-Palestine activists are often being accused of being antisemitic.

Greene introduced a privileged resolution following the rally that would censure Tlaib for “anti-Semitic activity,” citing a number of Tlaib’s comments criticizing the Israeli government or showing support for Palestine. Tlaib defended her stance, saying Greene’s resolution is “deeply Islamophobic” and harms “peaceful Jewish anti-war advocates.”

Several Democrats have joined Republicans in condemning Tlaib and other members of the “Squad” for their response to the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel while the U.S. unequivocally shows support for its ally. Despite criticisms of the progressive group, the House moved to table Greene’s efforts in a 222-186 vote, with 23 Republicans voting with Democrats to block the motion.
