Graham Alexander, the Motherwell manager, was the target for frustrated fans last night after his side’s disastrous defeat by Sligo Rovers.
Motherwell failed to find the target over the 180 minutes of the Europa Conference League second qualifying round tie against a Sligo side fifth in the League of Ireland and so crash out of Europe at the first hurdle.
After listening to chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning”, Alexander accepted that the travelling support who had made their way to Ireland were entitled to be angry. But he showed no signs that he was even thinking of walking away from the job.
