Most of Deshaun Watson’s civil lawsuits were officially dismissed. Here’s what’s left.

The cases were dismissed on June 29, about two weeks after attorney Tony Buzbee said that settlements with confidential amounts had been finalized in most of the lawsuits against Watson. Court records show that most of the plaintiffs dismissed their claims against Watson with prejudice — which prohibits the case from being refiled.

TEXANS NAMED: Houston Texans ‘turned a blind eye’ to Deshaun Watson’s alleged sexual assaults, new lawsuit says

The accusers whose suits continue to progress through the courts include massage therapists Ashley Solis and Lauren Baxley, both of whom have come forward with their identifies. The Houston Chronicle typically does not identify victims of alleged sexual assault or harassment.

Solis, the first in March 2021 to sue Watson, accused the athlete of exposing his genitals and touching her inappropriately during a session in March 2020 at her home. Buzbee credited Solis’ initial complaint as being instrumental in encouraging more women to step forward with their accusations and the start of the NFL’s internal review into Watson’s behavior.

In Baxley’s case, the licensed sports massage therapist said Watson asked her for a massage in June 2020 and the two met for an appointment at a Houston spa. Watson exposed himself to Baxley, despite her repeated demands that he cover himself with a towel, according to court records.

As for the remaining suits, one woman said her manager in June 2020 dispatched her to a hotel for an appointment with Watson — who was purportedly using a fake identity. He groped the woman and presumably ejaculated on her hand, according to court documents. He made a second appointment with the therapist later that year and she accepted, not realizing it was Watson. She agreed to the second session, which escalated to Watson masturbating in front of her.

In another case, the athlete propositioned a student studying massage therapy for an appointment and said he had a non-disclosure agreement for her to sign. Two sessions happened at her mother’s home — and during the second appointment he ejaculated on her.

No explanation has been given why those four lawsuits have persisted. Buzbee has said that he would no longer comment on the settled lawsuits.

WATSON ACCUSERS: Deshaun Watson’s new $230M Browns contract ‘a big screw you,’ his accusers say

Rusdy Hardin, who is representing Watson, could not be reached for comment. He has repeatedly professed Watson’s innocence. Grand juries in Harris and Brazoria counties earlier this year declined to indict Watson on criminal charges.

The Texans now also face legal action in the case and are accused of enabling Watson and turning “a blind eye” toward his behavior, according to court documents. The plaintiff in that lawsuit is among the four women.

The NFL’s disciplinary officer, former U.S. district judge Sue Robinson, is expected to decide whether Watson, who was traded to the Cleveland Browns, violated the league’s personal conduct policy — a decision that could lead to a suspension of one season or more. A recent disciplinary hearing focused on allegations from five women who sued Watson with the most compelling evidence, such as text messages.

The settlements were not expected to impact the disciplinary process, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy has said.
