Moreno Valley’s mayor, new city council member being chosen in election

Moreno Valley voters are deciding between six candidates for mayor and two candidates for the city council’s District 4 seat in the Tuesday, Nov. 8, election.

Mayoral candidates are Patsy D. Brown, Ulises Cabrera, Debra D. Craig, James Early Sr., Jaime C. Hurtado and Lindsay Robinson. The council candidates in District 4 are Cheylynda Barnard and Gregory Kuster.

District 4 takes in south and east of the 215 Freeway.

Council Member Ed Delgado is running unopposed for the District 2 seat.

Issues in the race included homelessness, public safety and transparency.

Current Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez is not seeking reelection but is running for Riverside County supervisor in Tuesday’s election.
