More freezing rain possible for east metro, Gorge as slow thaw continues

We saw some thawing overnight, but we still have some very slushy to icy roads. Most of the worst roads will be the less traveled side roads. We will see lots of rain today with freezing rain likely to return to the east side of the metro. Those closest to the Gorge will have the strongest possibly of freezing rain. Temperatures will remain in the 30s today. Most areas will see afternoon temperatures in the mid 30s. Wind will pick up this afternoon from the east and gusting to 45 mph. By late tonight the precipitation will stop falling.

Tomorrow will be a nice break from freezing temperatures and the rain. With mostly cloudy but mostly dry weather, we will warm it up to 38 degrees. Still cold and gusty winds close to the Gorge. Saturday starts dry, but rain returns in the afternoon with afternoon temperatures in the low 40s. Sunday through Wednesday brings light to steady rain with above freezing temperatures in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

First Alert Weather Day for parts of Portland: Be ready for more freezing rain and very gusty winds on the east side of the metro. Winds will be gusting up to 45 mph.

First Alert Weather Day for the Gorge: It’s going to be a rough go in the Gorge. West side of the Gorge is looking at quite a bit of freezing rain and very strong east winds steady at 40 mph and gusting 70-90 mph. As you head to the east through the Gorge, it switches to snow with 6-10 inches of snow possible. Any travel through the Gorge will be extremely challenging at times.
