Monzo Wrapped! From Netflix and Greggs to Colin and Cuthbert,…Monzo Wrapped! From Netflix and Greggs to Colin and Cuthbert,…

Monzo #Monzo

Every company seems to be doing its version of Spotify Wrapped these days, from Nintendo and PlayStation, to Aldi (yes, the supermarket), Tinder and, now, payment app Monzo.

With the ‘Year in Monzo 2023’, Monzo has collated all of its customers’ spending data to give us essential insights into the spending habits of its 7.4 million customers.

The Barbenheimer effect was on full display, with cinema spending up 261% on 22 July as doll and atomic bomb enthusiasts rubbed shoulders at their local cinemas.

Concert ticket sales went haywire in February and August, thanks to respective Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

According to the data, Netflix subscriptions ran up 25% after the streaming site cracked down on shared passwords.

On a more serious note, the north-south divide was on full display, with fancy southerners preferring M&S’s Colin cake over Cuthbert, the favoured chocolate log among northerners.

Colin versus Cuthbert

London stood alone in preferring Pret over Greggs, being the only region across all of Britain in favour of Pret’s pricier offerings.

Pret versus Greggs Apparently Leicester is an underrated nightlife gem, with the East Midlands city spending the most on late-night entertainment (presumably per capita, though Monzo was not clear in that regard).

However, Liverpudlians took the kebab by spending more on food between 11pm and 4am than anywhere else.

To our amusement, Monzo customers took to X (formerly Twitter) to disclose their embarrassing spending habits.
