Mnet Denies Rumors Of Discord With Starship After WJSN’s Appearance On “M Countdown” Falls Through

Mnet has responded to rumors of discord between the channel and Starship Entertainment (hereafter Starship).
On March 30, WJSN announced on their official social media channels that the group was scheduled to perform on Mnet’s “M Countdown” on April 1. However, the post was deleted six hours after it was uploaded. “M Countdown” also removed their original preview clip for the upcoming episode and uploaded a new one without WJSN in the performer lineup. This led to speculations that Mnet and Starship were on bad terms with each other.
The next day, a source from Mnet explained to Newsen, “We were discussing the details of WJSN’s ‘M Countdown’ stage this week with their reps, and they requested to perform two songs. Because ‘Kingdom: Legendary War‘ begins airing this week, the running time for ‘M Countdown’ has gotten shorter. Due to the time limitation, we could not accept WJSN’s request. WJSN’s reps stated that they would not appear on the show, and that is why their appearance was cancelled. We are not in a feud or anything with Starship.”
Newsen shares that Mnet’s statement does not explain why other Starship artists, like Jeong Sewoon and CRAVITY, also did not appear on “M Countdown” during their promotions even though they appeared on all other music shows. Some speculate that Mnet and Starship may have been on bad terms ever since MONSTA X turned down Mnet’s offer for a spot on “Kingdom: Legendary War.”
Meanwhile, WJSN made their comeback with “UNNATURAL” on March 31.
