New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso blasted a no-doubt home run in the third inning Tuesday, but capped it in strange fashion.
Not content just to circle the bases and enjoy the moment, Alonso had a message for Atlanta Braves starter Bryce Elder. When Alonso returned to the dugout, the Bally Sports South broadcast showed him taunting Elder.
“Throw it again! Throw it again, please! Throw it again!” Alonso shouted at Elder.
Elder had thrown four off-speed pitches to Alonso in that at-bat, included the pitch that got turned around for a 448-foot home run. Alonso saw six pitches in his first at-bat, all off-speed stuff. So chances are good the Mets slugger was frustrated with the no-fastball diet from Elder.
Whatever Alonso’s intent, his taunting did not go over well with many fans.
