May 23 (UPI) — Paramount Pictures is giving a glimpse of the new film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

The studio shared a teaser trailer for the action film Monday featuring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, an agent at the fictional IMF spy agency.

The preview teases several action-packed scenes, including a high-speed car chase and a fight on top of a speeding train. At the end of the trailer, Cruise is seen driving a motorcycle off a cliff and skydiving away.

Ving Rhames returns as Luther Stickell, with Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust and Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis. Hayley Atwell joins the cast as the character Grace, with Esai Morales as a new villain.

In addition, Henry Czerny, who played IMF director Eugene Kittridge in the original Mission Impossible (1996), reprises his character.

“Your days of fighting the so-called ‘greater good’ are over,” Kittridge (Czerny) tells Ethan (Cruise). “This is our chance to control the truth, the concepts of right and wrong, for everyone for centuries to come. You’re fighting to save an ideal that doesn’t exist. It never did. You need to pick a side.”

Dead Reckoning is written and directed by Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) and Fallout (2018) writer and director Christopher McQuarrie. The film opens in theaters in July 2023.
