BOSTON — The Milwaukee Bucks’ official Twitter account mocked Celtics guard Marcus Smart’s rough final minute of Game 5 as well as his Defensive Player of the Year honors in a tweet shortly after the completion of Milwaukee’s 110-107 win over Boston that put the defending champs up 3-2 in the best of seven series.
With 8.1 seconds left and the Celtics down one, Jrue Holiday blocked Smart from behind as the Celtics guard tried to drive the baseline.
With one second left and Milwaukee up three, the Holiday stripped Smart of the ball preventing the Celtics from even attempting a tying 3-pointer and sealing a Bucks’ win.
The Bucks official Twitter posted two pictures of Holiday taking the ball from Smart with the caption:
“Our DPOY”
Smart won the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year honors Holiday was not a finalist.
“He’s a helluva defender. He’s a guy who can change the game with his defense,” Bobby Portis said. “We’re lucky he was there to save the day.”
