Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms on a deal with Rashaad Penny.
And the addition of the former Seattle Seahawks running back indicates the end of Miles Sanders’ time in Philadelphia. The 25-year-old is expecting to sign elsewhere in his free agency.
He tweeted after the news broke Tuesday: To the city of Philadelphia Thank You from the bottom of my heart.
Sanders had hoped to stay in Philadelphia, but will look for more money than the Eagles are willing to pay him. Last month, he said in a quote posted to his Instagram story: “I love Philly. Just bring me back. I hope they bring me back.”

This is the first time in his career that the 25-year-old Sanders is a free agent. He was picked by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and has starred for the Eagles. This year was the best of his career, as he rushed 259 times for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns. In his first Pro Bowl year, he finished fifth in the NFL in rushing.
The Eagles are brining Penny in on a one-year deal with a $1.35 base salary.
