MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski said Wednesday that “a call is being set up” with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey after she questioned why President Trump is allowed to continue spreading “libel” and “misinformation” on the social media platform.

“@twitter need to know why trump is not banned?” the “Morning Joe” co-host asked in a tweet.

“I will be reaching out to head of twitter about their policies being violated every day by President Tump,” she wrote in another. “Hope my call is taken. Please retweet if you agree.”

During her show earlier Wednesday, Mrs. Brzezinski slammed Mr. Trump’s latest tweets attacking her husband and co-host, Joe Scarborough, in which the president called on authorities to reopen a “cold case” involving the death of a staffer at then-Rep. Scarborough’s Florida office in 2001.

“Donald, you’re a sick person,” Mrs. Brzezinski responded. “You’re a sick person, to put this family through this, to put her husband through this, to do this just because you’re mad at Joe, because Joe got you again today.

“Twitter, you shouldn’t be allowing this, and you should be taking these tweets down, and you should be ashamed of yourself. You’ll be hearing from me on this, because this is B.S.,” she said. “Donald, you’re a sick person. You’re really a cruel, sick, disgusting person. And you can keep tweeting about Joe, but you’re just hurting other people, and of course you’re just hurting yourself.”

Mrs. Brzezinski wrote on Twitter that the world would be “safer” if Mr. Trump wasn’t allowed to tweet.

“TAKE DOWN TRUMP’s ACCOUNT,” she tweeted to Mr. Dorsey.

“Please stop allowing your platform policies to be abused by the day. It’s called libel,” she wrote.

She later announced that Mr. Dorsey had accepted her phone call.

“A call is being set up with @jack and the GC,” she wrote. “Thanks for your interest. I will keep you posted.”

Jenna Ellis, the senior legal adviser to the Trump 2020 campaign, responded in a tweet calling Mrs. Brzezinski “fake news.”

“BREAKING: Fake News tries to deplatform another Republican,” Ms. Ellis wrote.

Mrs. Brzezinski responded to Ms. Ellis the same way she responded to dozens of her critics Wednesday — by sharing a clip from Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” that featured a mashup of Republicans and Fox News personalities downplaying the coronavirus in the early weeks of the pandemic.

“Mika” became a top U.S. trending topic on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.
