Miguel Almiron: Newcastle star scored another stunner vs Aston Villa

Almiron #Almiron

Miguel Almiron really is in the form of his life right now.

At the start of his Newcastle United career, goals were incredibly hard to come by for the hugely talented Paraguay international.

But things in that regard could not be any different now.

Going in to Newcastle’s home match against Aston Villa on Saturday, Almiron had five Premier League goals to his name in the month of October alone.

And in the team’s final league outing of the month, Almiron made it six with yet another stunner to add to his sizeable collection.

With Eddie Howe’s side 3-0 up and cruising, the 28-year-old collected the ball from Callum Wilson and shifted it onto his left peg.

Then with a degree of nonchalance, Almiron fired it past substitute goalkeeper Robin Olsen from all of 25 yards out.

It was yet another moment of magic from one of the Premier League’s most in-form players.

What. A. Goal.

Fantasy Premier League players, rejoice! Almiron was also credited with the assist for Newcastle’s first goal, as it was his cross that was handled by Ashley Young for the penalty.

Almiron now has seven goals for the season, which is more than Jack Grealish has managed in his entire Manchester City career thus far.

In City’s 2021/22 title celebrations, the former Villa man accused Riyad Mahrez of “playing like Almiron”, a throwaway comment that really has aged like milk.

To be honest, Grealish really needs to start playing like Almiron…

The Magpies were simply too good for Villa on Saturday, who were without new manager Unai Emery on the touchline.

Wilson’s penalty just before the half-time break set the wheels in motion and the visitors simply never recovered.

Shortly after the interval, Wilson made it 2-0 and the England World Cup hopeful then assisted Joelinton for Newcastle’s third.

Almiron put the icing on the cake with his aforementioned stunner.

Howe’s side remain in the Champions League qualification places and right now, you wouldn’t rule out them remaining there for the entirety of the campaign.
