The manager inspired his players to a huge display this evening, and he has been talking to Sky Sports about a famous night for Boro.

He said: “Very special. I know it’s a two-legged affair, and it’s still all to play for, but to beat a team like Chelsea in any circumstances is unbelievable.

“I thought the lads were exceptional. The effort and spirit was off the scale. It was an incredible night.

“The way they stuck together after the injuries was special.

“I am really, really proud of them.”
