Whew: Michael Thomas has done it again, passing the 500-catch milestone in the fewest games of any receiver in NFL history. The New Orleans Saints superstar set the new standard in Week 13’s matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, snatching his 500th pass out of the air before catching another throw just minutes later. This sort of record-breaking has become routine for him.
What’s most impressive is that Thomas accomplished this after missing six games with ankle and hamstring injuries, and a one-game benching for team discipline. If he had remained healthy and laser-focused, he probably would have broken this record even faster.
He entered the fourth quarter against Atlanta with 8 catches on 10 targets for 96 receiving yards, and with plenty of gas left in the tank to keep going. With Drew Brees on his way back into the lineup, it looks like the Saints’ franchise quarterback could have his No. 1 receiver fully warmed up and ready to get to work with him again.
