Referee Michael Oliver gave fans an easy chuckle after getting whacked in the head by the ball at the end of Arsenal vs Burnley.

After blowing up for the match at the Emirates in the 101st minute of the game, Oliver was ready to shake hands and go home.

But as soon as play came to an end for the day, he was left slightly dazed when Jordan Beyer cleared the ball as it fell from the north London sky.

And it made a direct beeline for Oliver’s head, comically bouncing off his cranium and up.

Fans were left in hysterics, with one saying: “Really enjoyed Michael Oliver getting smacked in the face at full time.”

Another wrote on social media: “My favorite moment of the #Arsenal game was watching Michael Oliver get bonked in the head.”

And a third posted: “Was the highlight of the game for me personally.”

Arsenal emerged 3-1 winners over Burnley to return to winning ways in the Premier League after their defeat to Newcastle last week.

Leandro Trossard scored the opening goal just before half-time, though he might have done more damage to himself in the process after clattering into the post.

But after half-time, Burnley struck back through Josh Brownhill, whose deflected effort wrong-footed David Raya.

However, there was controversy as Luca Koleosho and Takehiro Tomiyasu were embroiled in a coming-together before the goal went in.

VAR looked it over to check if there was a foul but ruled there was no infringement, leaving Mikel Arteta seething.

But that frown was turned upside-down just moments later when William Saliba nodded in a corner to put the Gunners ahead.

Oleksandr Zinchenko made sure of the result with a beauty of a strike that fans compared to Premier League legend Paolo Di Canio.

Fabio Vieira was then sent off for a high challenge on Brownhill to give Arsenal a late scare.

But they held on to go second in the table behind Manchester City, who will play Chelsea on Sunday.
