Miami CB Tyrique Stevenson (NFL Draft bound) leaves message to family, teammates, fans

Miami Hurricanes cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, the ever-smiling, talented, big-bodied fourth-year junior cornerback who grew up in Miami and transferred from Georgia before the 2021 season, already accepted his invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
That much we knew, which, in turn, meant he was headed to the 2023 NFL Draft.
On Monday afternoon, Stevenson left his farewell message to his family, coaches, teammates and “everyone who has inspired me on my collegiate journey…,’’ confirming that he was “declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.’’
Stevenson, out of Miami Southridge High, played in 11 games but was injured part of the season. He finished with 25 tackles, 1 1/2 tackles for loss, two interceptions and seven pass breakups in 2022.
Here’s his message:
“To my mom and sisters: There’s not enough words I could use to express how grateful I am for having y’all…
“First and foremost I want to give all my thanks to God. I am forever grateful for the opportunity I have been presented with. I have been able to attend and compete at two elite programs, and I feel as if nothing could have better prepared me to take this next step within my career.
“Secondly, I would like to express the love I have for my former head coaches, Coach Smart, Coach Diaz, and Coach Cristobal. These coaches are more than coaches. They are a big part in the village that sculpted me as man. I would like to say thank you for being positive male figures within my career, molding me into the athlete and man I am today. I have picked up so many positive things on life and the game of football.
“My brothers, I love you guys and thank y’all for becoming more than teammates. You guys are family forever. The constant push my brothers provided me was more than what was needed. It was nothing less than amazing to gain more family members. We shared so many laughs and great moments while working for a greater cause for our family that we built.
“With all that being said I would like to say thank you to everyone who has inspired me on my collegiate journey and helped me through my trials and tribulations. I am forever grateful for the University of Miami and the University of Georgia.’’
