CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland isn’t such a bad place to spend Christmas, at least according to one site’s ranking.

The personal-finance site WalletHub analyzes multiple variables to determine its best- and worst-of lists, covering a range of topics – sports, unemployment and many others. It is open about the methodology and sources used.

Cleveland came out 17th overall among the 100 cities in the ranking of best places for Christmas.

The site covered 15 categories in four main areas; Safety; traditions and food; observance, and generosity. For this list, everything from tree farms per capita to Covid cases to number of Christian churches was considered.

Cleveland ranks 28th in safety, 50th in traditions and food, fourth in observance and 55th in generosity.

Three other cities in Ohio are included: Cincinnati (16th), Columbus (44th) and Toledo (79th).

Durham, North Carolina, came out atop the overall list. By category: Honolulu is seen as the safest city for Christmas while Philadelphia finished on top for traditions and food. For observance, Birmingham, Alabama, is No. 1. Seattle is seen as the most generous.

Apparently the bah-humbug place you don’t want to be is Hialeah, Florida. The city outside of Miami finished 100th.
