Member of legendary rap group De La Soul has died

The co-founder of the legendary rap group De La Soul, Trugoy the Dove, has died, according to multiple reports.

He was 54.

No cause of death was given for the Long Island MC, whose real name was David Jude Jolicoeur.

Per reports, Trugoy was absent from a performance at the Grammy Awards last week which featured his groupmate, Posdnuous.

Jolicoeur teamed with Vincent Mason and Kelvin Mercer to form the group in 1988.

The group released nine albums, the last of which came in 2016. They won a grammy in 2006 after teaming with “Gorillaz” on the song “Fell Good Inc.”

As news of his death spread Sunday “RIP Trugoy” trended on social media.
