Every NBA player has their “welcome to the league” moment and for Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard, that painful blow came in second quarter of Tuesday’s game vs. the Portland Trail Blazers.

The former Oregon Duck was put through the spin cycle at Moda Center while attempting to guard Carmelo Anthony. Safe to say Pritchard was exposed in his homecoming return to Portland.

Pritchard will likely shrug it off as a learning experience. The rook is bound to have moments like these. Plus, the Oregon native was literally trying to guard Carmelo Anthony, a 10x NBA All-Star and 18-year veteran.
Payton shouldn’t lose sleep over it, but Melo has officially put the league on notice. The 36-year-old is in vintage form. At halftime, the Blazers led the Celtics 60-57 and Melo had 12 points, two of which were from three-point range.
