Melbourne captain equals record and comeback Cat honoured as 2022 All-Australian team named

The 2022 All-Australian team was unveiled on Wednesday night, with a club-high five Geelong players named in the side.

Collingwood’s Brayden Maynard joined Carlton’s Adam Saad and GWS’ Sam Taylor as first-time All-Australian’s on the half-back line.

Max Gawn was named in the All-Australian side for an astonishing sixth time, joining Dean Cox as the equal-most appearances in the team for a ruckman.

Coleman Medal winner Charlie Curnow was named in a forward line that included three Cats, including Tyson Stengle who made an impressive return to AFL level this season and now five-time All-Australian Tom Hawkins.

Port Adelaide’s Connor Rozee became a first-time All-Australian after he was named on the interchange bench.

Tom Hawkins was named captain of the side, while Patrick Cripps was named as the team’s vice-captain.

In other awards announced on the night, Nick Daicos was crowned this year’s Rising Star, while AFL Coaches Association AFL Champion Player of the Year was jointly awarded to Clayton Oliver and Touk Miller.

Fremantle’s Andrew Brayshaw was named this year’s AFL Players’ Association MVP.
