In a post on X/Twitter, Dreamworks released an official trailer for Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate. The film is set after the first film, with Megamind trying to take down his former villain team, The Doom Syndicate.

At the end of the trailer, Dreamworks also revealed the title of a new Megamind TV series, Megamind Rules! Both will be streaming on Peacock starting March 1. There have been talks since last April that a sequel TV series focusing on Megamind is in development and that it will be released sometime in 2024.

As you can probably hear from the trailer, Will Ferrell, who voiced Megamind in the original film, will not reprise his role in the new show and film.

Megamind was released in 2010 and focused on the titular character who creates a new superhero to fight after defeating his nemesis.

Upon its release, the film was praised for its comedy and parody of the superhero genre. The film has also spawned a slew of memes.

In our review of Megamind, we said: “[I]t’s ultimately the story, characters and humor that makes Megamind such a pleasant surprise. It may not be as effective as The Incredibles, but it’s a fun comic book parody that offers its own clever, satirical take on the genre.”
