Meek Mill performing in the outfield with the Phillies wearing powder blue uniforms? That was a sure way to get the Citizens Bank Park crowd fired up before Game 5 of the World Series on Thursday.

Meek Mill, a Philadelphia native, came out to the field before the first pitch and surprised the crowd by performing “Dreams and Nightmares,” the opening song to his 2012 album of the same name.

But hold up, did you think he was finished? After spending a bit of time on the grass, the Phillie Phanatic came over to pick him up on his ATV and ride him around the park as he continued to pump up the hometown crowd.

In what could be considered a must-win game for the Phillies as two games in Houston await, Meek Mill’s performance seemed to spark confidence that this would be the Fightins’ night.

Of course, the Astros, who took a 1-0 lead two batters into the game, took their chance to get a dig in at the performance.

But then Kyle Schwarber led off the bottom of the first with a game-tying home run off Justin Verlander, a dream beginning for the Phils’ offense.
