Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters told a crowd of protesters outside the police station in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin must be found “guilty, guilty, guilty.”
Any other outcome would result in more protests, she said.
“We’re looking for a guilty verdict,” she said. “And we’re looking to see if all of the talk that took place and has been taking place after they saw what happened to George Floyd, if nothing does not happen, then we know that we’ve got to not only stay in the street, but we’ve got to fight for justice.”

The congresswoman joined protesters on Saturday, after the police shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright, who died after a police officer said she mistook her firearm for her Taser.
Just a few miles away from the demonstration, Chauvin is facing trial over the death of George Floyd in May 2020.
He is facing three charges: second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. The trial will end on Monday.

“I am very hopeful,” the California Democrat added. “I hope that we are going to get a verdict that will say ‘guilty, guilty, guilty.’”
“And if we don’t, we cannot go away,” she added. “We’ve got to get more confrontational.”
Waters also said she is hoping a police reform bill gets passed in Congress. The bill, she claims, is being opposed by “the right wing, the racists,” a group she said is also responsible for the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.
