Maury County constable-elect arrested ahead of swearing-in ceremony

Ahead of a swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, Robert Santiago Wallace Medina, 48, constable-elect in the 11th District of Maury County, was arrested at the Maury County Courthouse.

According to Brent Cooper, District Attorney General, 22nd District, Medina lied about his address on the application to run for constable. According to an arrest report issued by the sheriff’s office, Medina has a Spring Hill address.

He was indicted by the grand jury on Aug. 17, according to a grand jury report. Medina has been charged with two counts of tampering with government records and one count of official misconduct.

His bond was set at $5,000.

Once Medina was escorted into a police vehicle, the swearing-in ceremony began for over 23 newly elected county commissioners, constables and other offices.

Maury County Circuit Court Judge Christopher Sockwell presided over the ceremony at the courthouse.
