Matt Canavan says Liberal frontrunner Peter Dutton provides hope

Nationals Senator Matt Canavan has commended Peter Dutton as attention moves to who will replace Scott Morrison as Liberal leader.

Peter Dutton is expected to throw his hat in the ring with speculation Dan Tehan might contest.

Mr Canavan wouldn’t be drawn on naming the best person to lead the Liberal Party but said Peter Dutton “has done a great job in Queensland”.

“Usually when you get tossed out of government Queensland swings and it didn’t this time.

“I think that is in large part due to the strong, conservative leadership that Peter Dutton provides there and gives people hope to rally behind our brand.”
