Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri states that he does not believe his job is in “danger” despite the Italian side losing their opening two Champions League games.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has stated that he does not believe his job is in “danger” following a 2-1 Champions League defeat to Benfica.

After winning 11 trophies and reaching two Champions League finals in his first spell as Juventus manager, Allegri returned to the club at the start of last season.

However, the 55-year-old could only match the fourth-placed finish achieved by Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus side in the 2020-21 campaign, while they were outscored by 10 other Serie A clubs last term, causing fans and pundits to question Allegri’s style of football.

The Old Lady have also started the new season in underwhelming form, with Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to Benfica extending their winless run to four matches in all competitions.

Following consecutive Champions League losses, Allegri was asked by reporters whether he felt his job was under threat.

The Juventus manager said: “I don’t feel my job here is in danger. It’s normal to have these moments in football. We need to work hard and change the situation — also, we have many important players injured.”

Allegri will turn his attention to Sunday’s league meeting with Monza where after collecting 10 points from six Serie A games, Juventus are looking to improve on eighth position.
