England goalkeeper Mary Earps has expressed her frustration with ongoing speculation about her future at Manchester United, calling it an “injustice”.

The 30-year-old, recently crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2023, has been linked with a move away from United, with no new agreement in place and her current contract expiring in June.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding her future, she emphasised her commitment to maintaining professional throughout the situation.

She said to BBC Sport: “I don’t know what happens currently.

“What I will say is there is a lot of stuff that’s been put out there that isn’t true. I’ve remained quiet for a reason. I feel I’ve behaved really professionally and with a lot of integrity through this whole situation.

“I play with heart and passion in everything I do and I drive standards. A lot of stuff that’s been put out, isn’t true.

“I want to say more but I can’t at this stage and it’s really hard for me to sit (and be) quiet when I see a lot of things that are not right.

“I think it’s an injustice but I know the appropriate thing to do is focus on my football and see what happens from there.”

The Athletic has previously reported that Earps made it clear she wanted to leave United in the summer.

Discussions regarding a new deal for Earps commenced following England’s European Championship triumph in July 2022.

Despite United rejecting a world-record offer from Arsenal for her before the Women’s Super League (WSL) transfer window closure on September 14, Earps’ future remains uncertain.

Earps clinched the Golden Glove at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, guiding England to their first-ever final appearance. She secured three clean sheets throughout the tournament and notably saved a penalty from Jenni Hermoso in the final, although the Lionesses ultimately suffered a 1-0 defeat to Spain.

Additionally, she also finished fifth in the Ballon d’Or and was named England’s player of the year.
