Marvel Unveils Trailer For ‘Secret Invasion’ At Comic-Con

Marvel #Marvel

Marvel showed the first trailer to Secret Invasion on Saturday at Comic-Con, though the series doesn’t come out until next spring.

Samuel L. Jackson, scratched up as Nick Fury, comes out of a spaceship to meet Cobie Smulder’s Maria Hill at a bar, who has tried to contact Fury, unsuccessfully, in the past. She claims he has been avoiding Earth for years and asks why he chose to come back now. He explains that this situation warranted his attention.

In the upcoming series, Fury returns to Earth to deal with a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. He has an intense conversation with Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos, a Skrull he helped in Captain Marvel. “You’ve got to be very careful Fury,” says the human version of Talos, who teams up with Fury to stop the Skull invasion.

Another shot: Fury is sitting down with Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes, who is surrounded by men in black suits. Fury to James: “How much do you know about your security detail?”

There’s also a shot of Olivia Colman in an authority figure role to Fury, almost like Bond’s M saying “You’re in no shape for this Fury.”

Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, Regé-Jean Page, and Christopher McDonald will also be starring in the series, with Martin Freeman making an appearance as his character from Black Panther, Everett K. Ross.

Marvel said today during its big Hall H presentation that Secret Invasion will hit Disney+ in spring 2023.
