Martin Odegaard: The perfect angle of Arsenal star’s assist vs Brighton
Odegaard #Odegaard
Martin Odegaard is playing football from a different planet right now.
The Premier League was more concerned with his fellow Norwegian Erling Haaland getting a rest and recharging the batteries over the course of the 2022 World Cup break.
But since the resumption of domestic football, it’s Odegaard who’s been the undisputed star of the show.
The former Real Madrid playmaker was electric in Arsenal‘s 3-1 win over West Ham United on Boxing Day and followed that up with an equally impressive display away at Brighton.
Odegaard scored and contributed an assist in the Gunners’ 4-2 win on the south coast, a victory which saw Mikel Arteta’s side move seven points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.
The goal from Odegaard was far from his finest in an Arsenal shirt, however, his assist for Gabriel Martinelli was straight from the Kevin De Bruyne playbook.
To be honest, it resembled something close to footballing perfection.

After a quick scan of the pitch while stationed in his own half, Odegaard pinged an inch-perfect ball into the path of Martinelli, who breezed past poor ol’ Tariq Lamptey.
The fact it was a first-time pass from the in-form Arsenal captain made it all the more better.
And the camera angle of the moment from behind Aaron Ramsdale’s goal shows just how ridiculous it was from Odegaard.

Yeah, the guy is pretty darn good at football. How did Arsenal get him for only £35 million?!
Needless to say, Gooners are drooling over the latest display of brilliance from their midfield master…
What did Odegaard say after Brighton 2-4 Arsenal?
In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Odegaard said: “It was another important goal, and happy to help the team with goals and assists, that’s what I want to do, help the team as much as possible so I am very happy to do that again.
“To be honest, we focus on ourselves. We don’t care about the other teams. Three points was everything today and we did it. Maybe we need to control the game a bit better, we let them in a couple of times, but they are a good team, good on the ball.”
Up next for Arsenal in the Premier League is a date with high-flying Newcastle United, before a trip to local rivals Tottenham Hotspur on January 15th.
