The federal holiday, celebrated on the third Monday of January, honors the birthday of the slain civil rights activist, who would have turned 95.
In the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr., today is a day for the nation to recognize the legacy of the civil rights movement and the ongoing fight against hate and injustice, directing the nation’s consciousness towards equality.
