Marcus Randle El, a former wideout for the Wisconsin Badgers and the younger brother of former Steelers star Antwaan Randle El, has been convicted of the 2020 murders of two women in Wisconsin.

The AP reports that a jury found Randle El guilty of two counts of first degree homicide in the shooting deaths of Seairaha Winchester, 30, and Brittany McAdory, 27, in Janesville, Wis.

Prosecutors said during the case that Randle El believed Winchester was an informant to police that he was selling drugs, and that he also killed McAdory to eliminate her as a witness in the first slaying.

While a murder weapon was never found, investigators tied Randle El to the murders through surveillance footage and text messages.

The defense made the case that the state did not meet the requisite burden of proof, but Randle El declined to testify on his own behalf in the case.

“Marcus, I love you. You can’t stop me from saying that, son!” the defendant’s mother said when the verdict was read, according to the Janesville Gazette. “The truth will come out, Marc.”

When Randle El was arrested in 2020, investigators had concluded that he was in the area at the time of the killings and had planned to meet with the women. They believed that he stole their SUV after the killings and later ditched it in Illinois.

Randle El was out of jail on parole at the time of the killings; he had previously served time for abducting his daughter at gunpoint.
