Marc-Andre Ter Stegen Made A Huge Howler For Atletico Madrid’s Winner Against FC Barcelona

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen was at fault for Atletico Madrid’s winning goal against FC Barcelona this evening.

The German goalkeeper tried to do his best impression of compatriot Manuel Neuer in between the sticks but ended up failing miserably and gifting the hosts at the end of the first-half.

Ter Stegen plays the sweeper keeper role that most shot-stoppers do these days in the modern game but he took it to new levels when he rushed out of his goal after a long punt up the pitch led to Yannick Ferreira Carrasco darting in behind.

Granted it was a potentially dangerous opportunity on the counter attack but Ter Stegen was punished for making an spectacularly rash decision and sprinting out like a mad man – allowing the Belgian forward to knock the ball past him and roll into an empty net for the game’s winning goal on the stroke of half-time

Ronald Koeman’s side were unable to respond in the second half and suffered a third defeat of the season – leaving them in tenth position in La Liga.

As for Atletico, their first ever win over Barca under Diego Simeone moves them joint top with Real Sociedad having played a game less.
