Manchester United player ratings: David de Gea and Eric Bailly good vs Wolves

Bailly #Bailly

David de Gea

Had Romain Saiss’ header that bounced off the crossbar covered and reacted well to his instinctive flick. 7

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

A passenger for large spells of another game; impotent in attack and careless in defence. 5

Eric Bailly

Was careless early on but covered well for Harry Maguire’s error to keep the scoreline deadlocked at the pause. 7

Harry Maguire

Wolves exploited his lack of pace and Maguire was forced to resort to cynicism with a foul that Saiss nearly punished. 6

Alex Telles

Proactive in the final third, even if his crossing was rarely of the requisite standard for Edinson Cavani. Made way for Luke Shaw at half-time. 6

Paul Pogba

Became more creative in the second-half but had little room to manoeuvre. Tested Rui Patricio with a firm strike. 7

Nemanja Matic

Frugal in possession but was exposed by Wolves on the counter a number of times. Imposed himself more after the pause and neutered Adama Traore. 7

Bruno Fernandes

Should have converted a cross from Mason Greenwood and looked tired. Kept going and claimed yet another assist. 6

Mason Greenwood

Supplied the cross that Fernandes should have finished but too lightweight against Wolves’ mean defence and ran down blind alleys. 5

Marcus Rashford

Too selfish at times with the ball and resorted to a desperate dive. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was on his case over a lack of forward runs but he came good with the winner. 7

Edinson Cavani

Was surrounded by three Wolves defenders in the six-yard box for one cross and often found himself isolated. Had a goal ruled out for offside. 5

Subs

Luke Shaw

Brought energy and offered a threat from corners again. 7

Anthony Martial

Wasted a couple of good openings. 5

Manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Tried to freshen up the team with six changes but too dilatory in making an attacking sub but prevailed through patience. 6
