Manchester United confirm Paul Pogba will leave at the end of June

Manchester United have announced that they will part ways with Paul Pogba at the end of his contract later this month.

The Frenchman will leave the club as a free agent and has been heavily linked with a return to Juventus.

In a statement on ManUtd.com, the club said: “Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United. We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey.”

Pogba made 90 goal contributions in 233 appearances for the club, but sadly he leaves under a grey cloud.

From his inconsistent displays to flirting with other clubs down the years, I don’t think we ever got to see the World Cup winner at his best.

It’s a shame because Pogba initially came through the ranks at United’s academy – from the age of 16.

At first, he impressed with the U18s and quickly moved upwards to the Reserves and was later part of the FA Youth Cup-winning side in 2011.

There are not many highlights from his second spell at the club but he did win the Europa League and League Cup under Jose Mourinho.

The 29-year-old is likely to return to Juventus where he enjoyed the best period of his club career.

They will probably need to prepare to make him their highest earner, while I’m happy at the thought of Pogba no longer being on United’s wage bill.
