Citizens can rack up goals
City begin their defence of the FA Cup defence against a Huddersfield side who are only one place above the relegation zone in the Championship, so a comfortable home win is expected.
The visitors have lost three of their previous four games and only bottom side Rotherham United have won fewer times in the division this season (three to Huddersfield’s five).
Pep Guardiola’s side reached last season’s final without conceding a goal, and only a contentious Bruno Fernandes penalty at Wembley blotted their defensive record en route to lifting the trophy.
The most recent meeting between the clubs at the Etihad Stadium finished 6-1 to City in 2018, and the previous season they won 5-1 in a fourth-round replay. A repeat of the 10-1 win they recorded at Maine Road in this fixture in 1987 may be over-ambitious but we are taking them to win with a -3 handicap. That bet would have paid out at this stage last season when they beat Chelsea 4-0.
Manchester City vs Huddersfield tip 1: Manchester City -3 handicap @ 13/10 with Paddy Power
Lewis looks good value to net
Rico Lewis has already secured his first two goals for Manchester City, and in a game in which his side are likely to have plenty of attacking chances, he could be a big price to add to the tally.
Guardiola is likely to rest some of his key players for this third-round clash and the 19-year-old has what it takes to reward his manager’s faith.
Lewis started in midfield in last month’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace, when he found the net on home soil. He could line up in a similar position against the Terriers and, against lesser opposition, he should be given the licence to roam forward.
Huddersfield are expected to deploy a low block for the majority of the game, but Lewis is elusive and agile, and he should be able to find space in and around the box.
Manchester City vs Huddersfield tip 2: Rico Lewis to score at any time @ 15/2 with Paddy Power
Lees could fall foul of referee
City have scored in all 12 home matches this season, winning nine and drawing three. They should rack up a win to nil against a Huddersfield side who are among the lowest scorers in the second tier.
Six of the Citizens’ last seven matches have featured at least three goals and a repeat of that also looks likely.
To complete our bet builder, take the visiting team’s defender Tom Lees to be shown a card. He has picked up four cautions in 14 league starts this term.
Manchester City vs Huddersfield tip 3: Bet builder – Manchester City to win to nil, over 2.5 goals, Tom Lees to be shown a card @ 10/1 with Paddy Power
