A man who heckled Prince Andrew in a procession behind the Queen’s coffin in Edinburgh has been charged with breach of the peace.
A member of the public was filmed shouting at the Duke of York: ‘Andrew, you’re a sick old man’, as his mother’s casket travelled down the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.
An unnamed 22-year-old man was arrested after the procession yesterday and has now been charged.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said in a statement sent to Metro.co.uk: ‘A 22-year old man was arrested and charged in connection with a breach of the peace on the Royal Mile around 2.50pm on Monday.
‘He was released on an undertaking to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.’
Footage showed a man among the crowds shouting at the disgraced duke, who was stripped of his honorary military titles in the wake of the US sex abuse scandal linking him to billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
He strenuously denied accusations he sexually abused Virginia Giuffre when she was just 17 – but reached an out of court settlement to avoid going to trial.
Andrew was banned from wearing military uniform during the procession on Monday and instead wore a black suit, along with his service medals.
