Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring with a brilliant finish before Richarlison headed in an equaliser when Andre Onana was rooted to his spot.

Marcus Rashford restored United’s lead before half-time as he slotted past Guglielmo Vicario.

However, the visitors cancelled out the lead again as Rodrigo Bentancur slammed an effort past Onana.

SunSports’ Neil Custis has provided the ratings for the United players…

ANDRE ONANA – 5

He flies out to the Afcon now to join up with Cameroon and you really wonder if United will miss him with Altay Bayindir now stepping up.

He was rooted to his line when the corner flew in for Richarlison to flick home in the first half when he should have been out claiming it.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 6

Played at left-back for possibly the first time in his career as Diogo Dalot was swapped to the other side.

Did not look as comfortable there but still produced some of those trademark challenges and got forward well.

JONNY EVANS – 6

Got a crucial header in to deny on-loan Timo Werner a goal on his Spurs debut, flicking the ball wide of the far upright.

RAPHAEL VARANE – 6

He is just not available enough which is why there are doubts about his future.

Still, on his day, he is an oasis of calm in his defending when all around might be losing it as a Premier League game rushes from end to end.

DIOGO DALOT – 6

Was providing some fine overlapping runs to support Alejandro Garnacho ahead of him.

Also produced the tackle of the first half with a superbly timed challenge on Destony Udogie which, had it gone wrong, would have resulted in a spot kick.

KOBBIE MAINOO – 7

His performances are demanding more game time and this was another start for the 18-year-old Stockport-born academy graduate.

He was excellent in the Cup win at Wigan and it is clear United’s conveyer belt of youth talent has unearthed another star.

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN – 5

Received a good reception from both sets of fans having played over 300 games for Spurs.

But clearly not up to match fitness as he could not keep up with Rodrigo Bentancur when he strode past him top meet Timo Werner’s cross for Spurs second. Finally subbed early in second half.

A subdued game for the 19-year-old as Spurs largely kept him quiet. But always kept the defence busy with his movement.

BRUNO FERNANDES – 7

Always in the action in the attacking half and is now strating to build a real understanding as a three with Rashford and Hojlund.

MARCUS RASHFORD – 8

He has been getting a bit of stick from United regulars this season but this was his second goal in three games as he starts to recover some of the form that took him to career beat figures of 30 goals last season.

RASMUS HOJLUND – 8 Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring

It was emotional last time out here when he finally scored his first Premier League goal with the comeback winner against Aston Villa. His a screamer here on three minutes and was able to celebrate in front of the box where his family sit and watch.

SUBS

SCOTT McTOMINAY (For Eriksen 58) Needed his legs with Eriksen fading and almost made an immediate impact as he got forward and shot just wide. Had a great chance to win it at the end but put a clear header over the bar. 6.

LISANDRO MARTINEZ (For Evans 63) The hope now for Ten Hag is that he and Varane can stay fit and regain that partnership and understanding they had last season. 6.

ANTONY (For Rashford 87) Came on too late to make an impression. Not that any earlier involvement would have promised one. 5
