Man Utd have two stars ‘massively benefitting’ from Casemiro, Antony and Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United duo Scott McTominay and Raphael Varane are benefitting from the arrivals of players such as Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony, according to reports. The Red Devils landed the trio, as well as Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen, back in the summer transfer window. And they’ve all made positives starts to life at Old Trafford, helping the fallen Premier League giants bounce back following a slow start to the season.

Manchester United had a slow start to the transfer window.

However, they ended up having a productive one by the end – with Ten Hag adding six fresh faces to the squad as he targets Premier League title glory at the first time of asking.

Martinez has brought steel to the club’s backline, with the Argentina international shining and keeping Harry Maguire out of the team in the process.

Casemiro and Antony are yet to truly get going but have made positive impressions, while Malacia and Eriksen have become two of the first names on their manager’s team sheet.

And the Telegraph say like-minded characters such as McTominay and Varane have benefitted from the new recruits behind the scenes.

United lacked leadership last term as they finished sixth in the Premier League table, missing out on a spot in the Champions League in the process.

Man Utd transfers: Two players stopped the club making more signings

Casemiro is said to carry a quiet authority behind the scenes, even if he’s not been given a single Premier League start following his summer move from Real Madrid.

Antony has upped the intensity of training and is loving life at United, having gone on strike at Ajax in order to push through a move.

Malacia sets the standards by being one of the last members of the squad to leave training every day, as he looks to nail down his spot in the team at left-back.

And Eriksen has impressed his team-mates, with the Denmark international recently winning United’s player of the month award.

If the Red Devils beat Manchester City on Sunday, they’ll move up to fourth in the league table.

And it will give fans genuine hope of a first league title since 2013, too, back when Ferguson ruled the roost.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of United’s match with City, meanwhile, Ten Hag has insisted he’s confident in his new signings.

“Don’t be worried, they know how big this game is,” said the Dutchman.

“What is good for them is their approach in every game is to battle, to give everything, 100 per cent is not enough and you can be sure that they will bring more on the pitch.

“But not only them, all the players, they are aware of the importance of this game.”

And Ten Hag has also defended club captain Maguire, insisting he’ll help the England international get back to his best.

“By backing him,” he said when asked how he can help Maguire.

“I believe in his potential and I tell him I believe in the player and the person.

“I’m sure he does [still believe in himself]. I’m convinced he will fight back.

“He’s aware of his great capabilities, and he will return. You know, as a defender when you make one mistake, you get hammered for that mistake.

“That is top football because there are good opponents and good attackers.”
