Manchester United fans were left fuming as Jamie Redknapp and Micah Richards took penalties at half-time whilst donning Liverpool and Manchester City kits.
The pair’s antics were filmed for a future episode of ‘A League of Their Own’ – for which Redknapp has been a stalwart. The Sky show chose to record some footage at Old Trafford at half-time during Manchester United’s opening home game of the season against Wolves.
The crowd were left unimpressed by the pair as they took turns converting efforts from 12 yards. Redknapp and Richards saw the funny side, mocking the crowd as they wore their rivals’ colours. United fans though ended by singing: “What the f****** hell was that?”

Richards missed all three of his penalties which left the crowd mocking the former City star by chanting: “Just a s*** Gary Neville”. The pundit attempted the slow Paul Pogba run-up at the Frenchman’s former home, only to be left with egg on his face.
The Sky Sports regular was also donning the famous ‘Why Always Me?’ shirt, made famous by Mario Balotelli when he scored the opener in City’s 6-1 win at Old Trafford back in 2011 – a game in which Richards also played. His shirt had a slight tweak with the words reading ‘Why Always Meeks?’ as he held up six fingers to the home crowd.
Both Richards and Redknapp were only too happy to take on the boos. Liverpool have notoriously been United’s biggest rivals as they chased down their haul of league titles during the Sir Alex Ferguson era. City have become a modern day force due to their immense wealth and resources.
Those on the red half of Manchester haven’t finished above their neighbours since Ferguson’s retirement in 2013 with those on the blue half winning five of the last six league titles as Pep Guardiola’s side enjoy a dominant period in English football.
Liverpool meanwhile have dealt the Red Devils some harsh lessons in recent times. Two years ago Jurgen Klopp’s side won 5-0 at Old Trafford in a dominant display whilst last term the Reds hit United for seven in an embarrassing afternoon at Anfield for those from Manchester.
