Man United’s transfer policy is expected to shift significantly now Ratcliffe, who controls footballing operations, is at the club.

Robinson admitted that United will have to suffer “a bit more pain” before they return to their former glory, but tipped Branthwaite to make a real impact.

“There’s a huge transition at Man United at the moment, but it will happen slowly under Ratcliffe,” he told Football Insider.

“They’re going to have to go through a bit more pain to get where they want to be and where they should be.

“But Branthwaite would be an incredible start to that as we’ve seen his quality this season.

“Unfortunately for Everton, they’re in a situation where some of their best players are going to have to be easy pickings for some of the bigger clubs because of their finances.
