Man United player ratings: Dan James ineffectual as Marcus Rashford continues to struggle for form

MANCHESTER UNITED must have had an eye on Thursday after serving up a dismal draw with Leeds.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side face Roma in the Europa League midweek with second place in the Premier League already all-but secured.

But this contest was certainly not one for the neutrals with neither side able to muster up a piece of quality to snatch the three points.

Here’s how SunSport’s Richard Forrester rated Manchester United’s players on a forgettable afternoon.

Dean Henderson – 6

Nothing to do in the first half and barely anything to do in the second, either.

Leeds only had two shots on target up until the 75th minute and he could have saved them with a blindfold on.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6

Golden opportunity to impress in front of Gareth Southgate and defended well yet again. Did lose his man on a couple of occasions and most of Leeds’ attacks came down his side.

Made an important block on Helder Costa.

Attacking-wise offered little going forward leaving James or Greenwood isolated at times.

Harry Maguire – 7

Helped keep Leeds’ attack quiet, although booked on 67 minutes for a clumsy tackle.

An easy after for the United captain and he’ll take credit for the clean sheet.

Victor Lindelof – 7

Likewise with Maguire, little to really get worried about on an off day for Leeds.

Ensured Patrick Bamford grew frustrated by giving him little time and space on the ball.

Luke Shaw – 7

Another solid performance by the in-form left-back. Marshalled his side of the field and barely gave Leeds a sniff down the flank.

Great on the overlap at times but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have wanted to see more.

Matched Leeds’ high pressure intensity and caused a nuisance of himself.

Gave the ball away on several occasions but showed desire to get the ball forward.

Scott McTominay – 7

Grafted well in midfield, breaking up Leeds’ blistering counterattacks. Was certainly up for the scrap and did well in a drab game.

Bruno Fernandes – 6

Poor performance by his high standards, lacking quality when it really mattered.

Had a golden chance on 55minutes but dragged it wide. Was growing increasingly frustrated as the game went on.

A mix-up with Fernandes while through on goal summed up his game.

No question marks over his effort but really struggled to have an impact on the contest before being subbed off on 76 minutes.

Mason Greenwood – 6

Found it difficult to get into the game in the first half, livened up slightly in the second but was forced to drop deep to get the ball.

First real chance came on 60 minutes but was saved comfortably.

Marcus Rashford – 5

Produced the only piece of quality in the first half when his free-kick was brilliantly saved by the keeper.

Scuffed an early chance early on and gave the ball away on numerous occasions.

Snatched at other chances. That’s one goal in his last eight league matches now.
