Man City’s Jack Grealish has Sky Sports panel laughing with analysis of Chelsea goal

Grealish #Grealish

Jack Grealish came off the bench to make a massive impact for Manchester City against Chelsea on Thursday night.

There was a real sense that Graham Potter’s Blues were there for the taking at Stamford Bridge with the club marauding through one of its worst runs of Premier League form in recent memory.

And with the chance to close the gap to Arsenal in the title race dangled beneath their nose, Pep Guardiola‘s men jumped at the opportunity to gobble up three points in west London.

What happened in Chelsea vs Man City?

However, it’s fair to say that the champions didn’t have everything their own way and it wasn’t until Guardiola rolled the dice in the second-half that the breakthrough finally came.

That’s because Grealish provided the creative spark for the Citizens when he fired a tantalising cross into the Chelsea penalty area that was latched onto by Riyad Mahrez to score the winner.

Kepa Arrizabalaga ultimately pulled out of the chance to intercept Grealish‘s delivery into the area of maximum opportunity, leaving the door ajar for Mahrez to secure a 1-0 victory for the visitors.

And with Grealish having played such a key role in a goal that could well go on to have massive implications for the title race, Sky Sports just couldn’t miss the chance to speak to him afterwards.

Plus, if anyone’s seen Grealish speak to the media before, then they’ll know that he’s not like most footballers in the way that he conducts himself – and we mean that as a huge compliment.

While most professional players will stick nice and tightly to their media training, Grealish always makes for compulsive viewing with admirable honesty, sensitivity and vulnerability.

Can you name these obscure January transfers Manchester City have made? What did Grealish say about Man City’s winner?

As such, his analysis of Mahrez’s goal and his assist that created it when prompted by the Sky panel made for an incredibly entertaining watch, courtesy of his ever-transparent insight into what actually went down.

“I’ve put my head down to cross it and straight away I’m thinking: ‘Nah, Erling’s got to be somewhere,’” Grealish amusingly revealed. “Obviously he’s always in there, isn’t he?

“I just said to him: ‘Where was you in there?’ and he goes: ‘Cause everyone went, I pulled back,’ but yeah, I dunno, I felt like the ‘keeper was going to get it at one point.”

Never change, Jack, never change.

And lucky for you, Grealish’s interview was about more than just Mahrez’s winner as he discussed everything from sharing a school with Karen Carney to his struggles adapting to life at the Etihad.

It’s easy to see why Grealish is not only one of the most entertaining Premier League footballers for his skills on the pitch, but also for his brilliant friendlessness and authenticity away from it.
