Manchester City are exploring a deal to sign Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes to fill Kevin De Bruyne’s absence.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein repoRTS the Premier League champions have turned to the Portugal international after a move for Lucas Paquetá stalled.
West Ham playmaker Paquetá is currently facing a Football Association investigation over potential betting breaches.
After losing talisman De Bruyne for potentially several months with a hamstring injury, Pep Guardiola’s side are targeting a replacement in the midfield department.
Nunes has played 43 times for Wolves since arriving from Sporting Lisbon at the start of last season, scoring just once in that time.
Although the Molineux club are not expected to entertain City’s interest, Ornstein claims a deal could aid their current financial issues.
The report also claims that Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze is another player in Guardiola’s crosshairs.
