Man arrested after shots fired into Maynard, Minnesota, home during argument

Maynard #Maynard

MAYNARD — No injuries were reported Wednesday after a man fired a gun at one person through a door of a Maynard home.

No one was injured in the apparent argument, and the suspect was arrested later in a traffic stop, according to a news release from Chippewa County Sheriff Derek Olson.

Olson told the West Central Tribune on Thursday morning that the two parties could be heard arguing toward the back of the home before shots were fired through the door to the home.

Deputies first responded to a report of an unwanted person at a private residence in Maynard around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival, multiple gunshots were fired by the suspect at the complainant inside the residence, according to the news release.

He then fled the scene in a vehicle with Texas registration, and was eventually arrested after a traffic stop on Minnesota Highway 23 south of Maynard, according to the release.

There is no further threat to the public, according to Olson. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, and criminal charges are expected to be filed in the coming days.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Montevideo Police Department and the Granite Falls Police Department.
