A 20-year-old man faces a charge of first-degree murder in a fatal West Side shooting earlier this month, according to Chicago police.
Alex Thomas, of the South Austin neighborhood, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of West 77th Street in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
Police said he was identified as the person who shot and killed a 25-year-old man Nov. 8 in the 4900 block of West Madison Street in the South Austin neighborhood.
In that shooting, Lavell Mathis, 25, walked through a vacant lot about 1 a.m. when another man approached him and fired shots, police said. The gunman left in a white sedan.
